Videogames creator with launched titles on the Nintendo DS, PlayStation3, PC and Mobile. I am comfortable in taking a project from concept pitch to final production, managing teams of programmers, animators, artists, designers and sound designers.
Also a comic book writer at home 🙂

Straight out of school in 1997 I worked for 7 years in television where I slowly made my way up. I started by cleaning a TV studio floor of Sigma3’s TV show entitled “3000 segundos”. Passed through several jobs within Sigma3 like, Camera Operator, and Image Editor until I made my way to Graphics and Motion Design. I was responsible for a dozen different graphics packages for programs such as “Curto Circuito”, “CineXL” and “Cabaret da Coxa”. In my free time I designed logos, posters, websites and did interesting freelance jobs like producing the photos and graphics package for the music CD “Reaktor”.

With comics I started in 2003 with Filipe Andrade and my brother Rafael Pina doing a weekly online strip called “Fraggers”. Between 2006 and 2008 as a writer and a painter and also with Andrade, we published in a bi-monthly magazine the comic called BRK. The same comic would be later published as a book by Asa in 2009 where it received several awards including Best Art by BD Amadora and Best Book, Best Art and Best Story by Cental Comics. Another awarded project from Central Comics with the “Best Short Story awards was “Analepse”, published in the book “Venham+5” from Bedeteca de Beja in 2009. Ansd again with Andrade doing the art we made the short story “Saudade” published in the Polish-Portuguese book “City Stories” in 2010.
Published in 2011 by Asa, the comic “First Encounter” was based on the Under Siege videogame which I produced and wrote. This comic was published in the “Arte de Under Siege” book and also made available for free digitally online. From 2013 to 2016 I was part of the “The Lisbon Studio” collective where we published a free online digital magazine.
In 2017 a short story called “Monstros” was launched in the Anthology from the TLS Series called “SILÊNCIO”. It was nominated for Best Short at Comic Con Portugal in 2018 and it won Best Story at Prémios Nacionais Amadora BD 2018.
I am currently working on two new comic books and I have no idea when it will be out.

As for videogames, they have always been a big part of my life. I have been working in videogames in one way or another since 1999. In 2006 I co-founded and co-managed Seed Studios where we produced several games including Toy Shop Tycoon and Aquatic Tales for the Nintendo DS. In 2011, Under Siege for the PlayStation3 was created. Under Siege was published in more than 60 countries in six different languages and was awarded the ZON Grand Prize Award, the ZON Multimedia Award and the Exame Informática Best Software of 2011.
In 2013 I directed, wrote and co-produced Murder in the Hotel Lisbon for Windows, Mac and Linux for my newly created company, Nerd Monkeys. In 2015 we re-launched it for iOS and Android devices.
From 2014 to 2016 I worked as a consultant, manager and designer with Science4You to create several educational videogames like Micro Dinos, Sparks – Mega Quiz and Smart Monkey among many others.
In 2017 I launched with Nerd Monkeys and Super Banana Games 3 little mobile games called Loopy Loops, Lab Run and Infinite Roads. In 2018 I finally launched the sequel to Murder in the Hotel Lisbon, entitled The Express Killer.
Both Murder in the Hotel Lisbon and The Express Killer are currently being ported to the Nintendo Switch.
